Sheraton Towers Singapore
Hotel Class: Upscale
Sheraton Towers is a Grand upscale chain hotel with an elegant style and unusually pleasant views from the lobby bar/restaurant.
The large lobby has a simple chic decor, with a collection of regency chairs and tables making up a sitting area, and an elegant broad staircase with stylish burgundy runner and carved twisted handrails.
The lobby bar area is an intimate space with sofas and table seating, edged with plants and scattered with orchid displays.
It opens out onto the beautiful Dining Room with floor-to-ceiling windows offering views out over lush grounds and a beautiful rocky waterfall.
This style for grand elegance runs throughout the hotel, with striking black chandeliers suspended over the marble tables of Domvs Italian restaurant and warm orange panels…
…adorning the walls of the welcoming Li Bai Cantonese restaurant.
Guests are often corporate travelers who return regularly, but the location also attracts families and mature couples who want a quieter base away from the busy hub.
Location Is Everything
This hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of Orchard Road shopping and easy MRT connections throughout the city.
Sheraton Towers is on tree shaded Scotts Road in the Orchard Road shopping area. It’s a main road lined with upscale hotels and office buildings. While there’s not much shopping and dining in the immediate area, a pleasant 15-minute walk along the road takes us to shops and malls which begin at the junction of Scotts and Orchard Roads.
The hotel is next to Newton the MRT (mass rapid transit) station which is on two lines, connecting easily with top spots throughout the city. The MRT provides a five-minute journey down the road to Orchard, an eight-minute trip to Little India, and about 20 minutes to Chinatown, the business district, and attractions such as Gardens by the Bay.
Journey time on the MRT to the airport is around an hour, with a change at Bugis, or about a 30-minute taxi ride. Buses also run along Scotts Road to destinations all over the city. The bus stop a three-minute walk from the hotel is useful for places farther away, like Singapore Zoo, which is approximately a 40-minute bus trip.
Rooms
The Sheraton Towers compares well with the likes of St. Regis and Four Seasons. Sheraton Towers was lately refurbished from being a standard Sheraton hotel to a notch or two better. It’s very clean, neat, well kept and excellently located. Prices are sometimes a bit lower. You won’t find fabulous art collections or competition to be the most creative restaurant in town. Overall, I call it very good and I might settle here for my home if I were so wealthy and so inclined.
I should say here, as for meals they’re good, solid, healthy food without strange new surprises. If Radioactive Alaska Seaweed mixed with brandy roasted weasel brains and a hint of banana flavored paint thinner is for you, this is not the place for it. I personally like familiar food and don’t relish odd surprises. (I hope we’re both laughing.)
.
Most everyone would appreciate the Classically styled well-finished rooms; some with direct pool access, some with balconies, and some individually themed suites.
The official Sheraton/Marriott website with many more photos is here.
The Sheraton Tower’s 420 rooms have a natural color scheme and a tasteful bit of color in the stylish wall art. Large windows let in plenty of light, and there’s a comfortable armchair and desk seating. There’s nothing garish here. The conservative theme runs through the entire hotel creating an ambiance of modern elegance. This consideration about detail is often remarked upon by guests who are pleased to find controls for the lighting and TV comfortably beside their bed..
The polished wood furniture has intricate details. Antique pieces add to the high degree of finish quality.
After a busy day working or touring these rooms welcome one to finish a few final work notes and relax in quiet comfort.
Rooms range from Standard Rooms to individually themed Premium Suites with beautifully ornate furniture, and Fifth floor Tower Terrace and Tower Pool Rooms offer private balconies.
Pool Rooms looking down upon the city below have direct access to the pool from their leafy terraces.
Suites include kitchenette cupboards with microwaves, sinks, and tableware — plus dining space.
A secluded wing beside the pool houses six Cabana Rooms which have a colonial decor with four-poster beds and teak furniture. Their balconies look out over pretty Goodwood Hill. These are beautiful locations.
Amenities in all rooms include flat-screen TVs, music systems, minibars, tea/coffee facilities, bathrobes, slippers, safes, and irons. WiFi and wired internet are available at a fee or free to Starwood loyalty members.
All but the standard Deluxe Rooms include access to the Executive Lounge..
This is where the hotel really shows great benefits for the business traveler. If price is not an issue, you can be comforted and get a lot of work done here while meeting with several others for business discussions or a training seminar.
It’s an option. You won’t pay for this privilege if you don’t need it.
The marble bathrooms are light colored, clean and beautifully lit, with shower/tub combinations, some accented with black marble counter tops. (Interior redecorating is ongoing and some of these images may not be quite up-to-present time.)
Suites add a separate rain shower cubicle, dual sinks, and a bidet.
Features
You’ll enjoy making new acquaintances at the outdoor pool or the bar.
There’s a gym, spa, business center, and three restaurants — plus a stylish Executive Lounge.
The Sheraton has plenty to offer for business and pleasure travelers. The relaxed lobby bar/restaurant serves a buffet breakfast and lunch plus a light bar menu until late evening. Two additional restaurants, Domvs Italian and Li Bai Cantonese are open for calm lunches and elegant dinners most days.
Hotels have themes or an inherent ambiance. This one is rather sedate and civilized. It’s not the place for the wild party and pick-up crowd. For that go to Lavo at the top of the Sands Casino Hotel on Friday or Saturday night. That’s where the adventurous hedonists like to dine and stay.
The large outdoor pool is located on level five and is nicely landscaped with surrounding trees and shrubs creating restful privacy.
There’s a shaded poolside bar serving cocktails and light snacks throughout the day. Sun loungers with umbrellas ring the deck. A wall of windows overlooking the pool creates a bright space for the 24-hour fitness center which has a selection of cardio and weight machines, plus a sauna and steam room. (24-hours! When I was younger I might wake at 3AM and might have then thought of “some exercise” but certainly not pressing iron.)
There’s a relaxing spa with a menu of massage therapies and a tranquil outdoor seating area. The stylish Executive Lounge also provides continental breakfasts and evening drinks for Club guests.
In the lobby, a 24-hour business center is equipped with conference calling facilities, and a boardroom seating up to eight people.
There’s free Wi-Fi in the lobby. The front desk offers safe deposit boxes, laundry services, and luggage storage.
The hotel is happy to host weddings and there’s nothing like a Grand Staircase by which a gowned lady and her hand maidens may make a grand entry. They will create a wedding that fits your dreams. Just consult with their wedding designer.
Both self-parking and valet parking are available. This hotel is very good for business travelers. It is not the place for young party animals to find fleeting romance.
The Sheraton Towers Singapore compares well to other 5-start hotels around town.
Management offers friendly warmth and comfort. It is this quality that encourages some businesses to host their business partners and guests here at the Sheraton Towers Singapore.
If you are considering a long-term stay here, take note that they have special rates and privileges so it is best to check with the Sheraton Towers Singapore Sales Team directly by email or phone in for reservations. Ask about reduced rates and special promotions.
Enjoy convenience without crowding. The Sheraton Towers Singapore offers a great location with outstanding value. You’ll get good value for your money at Sheraton Towers, Singapore.
